JOSE AGUDO: FLAMENCO ROOTS

Participants will learn the basic elements of flamenco dance: rhythm, hand and foot expression and then see how they can be applied to contemporary dance. Together we will create an atmosphere of joy and mutuality in the spirit of contemporary flamenco.
Jose Agudo – Spain/UK – dancer, choreographer, director of Agudo Dance Company; virtuoso in the fusion of contemporary dance with flamenco and other forms of traditional dance. During the Generator of Hope Festival in Gardzienice, will be showing his performance ‘A Hero with a Thousand Faces’ on 19 October.

DEBJAYA SARKAR: KATHAK

The basics of classical Kathak dance are intense barefoot work, hand gestures and facial expressions in a precisely codified movement system at the service of storytelling (katha).
Debjaya Sarkar – Kathak dance master from West Bengal, India. She participated in the festival ‘India India…’ in Gardzienice in 2014, played in the performance ‘Builder of Solnes’ directed by W. Staniewski (premiered in Dehli 2012, Ibsen Festival). She will be presenting a Kathak author recital by Debjaya Sarkar on 18 October.
