IV Festival of the Wandering Theatres

INDIA, INDIA…. Festival  – Gardzienice-Lublin 2014 

Guests of the Festival were some of the most outstanding theatre, film, music, dance artists and scientists from India, Great Britain and Poland.

The Festival programme:

included theatre and dance performances, film, concerts and workshops of music and dance, with a wide range of participants, to be seen in Lublin and Gardzienice. Spectators had a unique opportunity of attending performances of “Gardzienice” Theatre specially adapted and rehearsed together with our dear guests from India.

Three scientific sessions were held in the conference hall of the European Centre for Theatre Practices “Gardzienice”:

Dance and body language

Wanda Dynowska, outstanding figure awarded for bringing a deeper understanding of Polish culture to India and of Indian culture to Poland.

The Festival was enriched by performances of internationally famous dancers and actors, such as Mallika Sarabhai (worth mentioning amongst her innumerable theatrical achievements is her performance in the role of Draupadi in Peter’s Brook Mahabharata) and Ash Mukherjee, the acclaimed Indian dancer from London.  

Andrzej Seweryn took part in one of the performances.

The director Sujata Sett from Delhi was shooting a film, dedicated to Wanda Dynowska, for the National Television Channel, Doordarshan, during our Festival.

All the conferences were in co-operation with the Collegium Artes Liberales of Warsaw University. 

The India, India… Festival was realized with the financial support of Lublin Municipality.

The Honorary Patronage of the First Lady of Poland,  Anna Komorowska.

The President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, and his wife visited Gardzienice on June 20th, 2014.
