Good News is a show a bit about the media world, which today serves us sensational, bloody news as the most attractive morsels, bringing the highest viewership.

A bit about the fight between good and evil. A bit about the suffering that affects the parents of seriously ill children. About transformations that take place in us under the influence of reflection on life and death. We ask the viewer the questions: “Why is good news selling worse? Are they boring? Do we need them? Can we see the good news in our own lives? ” It concerns the publishing of a certain newspaper. One day the editor suddenly “changes front” and instead of “bloody news” he expects his employees to do the opposite. Journalists are confused, but they adapt to the new situation quite well. In the performance, the real world is mixed with the metaphysical world, invisible to the human eye. Angels and devils appear. Their struggle for the soul is not finally resolved, because “we do not delude ourselves that one intervention is enough”. There are also interesting dialogues and songs that complete the whole.

Theater of Satire Zielona Mrówa

Dormitory of Art Schools in Lublin

The show “Boredom, or maybe you could do something like that”

Duration of the performance: 40 minutes.

Friday, May 24, 2019 at 17.15 / Carmina

Directed by: Robert Kaczorowski

Screenplay: Grzegorz Sławiński

About the show

The action of the spectacle can take place on the outskirts of the city, in one of its districts, the so-called “Bedroom”. It can take place on the balcony of any house or apartment block, playing truant, on vacation, after school, on Monday or Sunday, in the countryside, in a small town, or in a large agglomeration, and if you prefer, in an abandoned cottage in the woods. We deliberately do not define the place of action unambiguously, and we treat the phrase “we’re going to the city” (apparently it is better and “more distinguished” in the city) as normal, colloquial, so we do not want the viewer to fall into the trap of who the performance is not is. Boredom attacks everywhere and at any time. Thanks to the play neatly written by Grzegorz Sławiński, we present boredom, boredom that affects only the chosen ones. Boredom in our interpretation concerns a certain intellectual emptiness, concerns those who cannot find something for themselves, have no interests, cannot find anything within themselves, because they do not want to, because they cannot, and cannot, because they do not want to. Waiting for someone or something, sitting, watching, contemplating, “talking” is the only recipe for life. Despite the bitter truth, we try to warmly show ridiculousness, ignorance, vanity and naivety of our heroines.

About the theater

The “Green Mrówa” Satire Theater was established in October 2008. It is made up of pupils from the Dormitory of Art Schools in Lublin.

“Domino” performance

Duration of the performance: 40 minutes.

Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 15.30 / Granary

Directed by: Michał Brańka

Scenario: collective work inspired, among others, by contemporary Polish poetry and music, the collection of “Letters unforgettableianych ”by Shaun Usher

About the show

5jghe3wNyIalh

“Domino” is the result of shared inspiration with contemporary Polish poetry and music, but above all with the collection of Shaun Usher’s “Unforgettable Letters”. Letters – not only those read, but also written by oneself – became the basis for sincere, unhurried reflection on oneself and on one’s immediate surroundings – family. Creative work on the plot was accompanied by the question: what if … all parents suddenly disappeared? This is what happened in the performance, in strange and mysterious circumstances! A crazy group of friends decides to set off on a search full of surprises, thoughts and discoveries! The performance is a combination of humor and reflection, characteristic of Sokół, provoking questions: how much do we have of a parent? What can we be grateful to him for? What does our parent really feel about us? If… if he had written a letter to us, what would be in it? The performance is a compilation of letters written by members of the group and fragments of texts and works by, among others, Władysław Bełza, Jarosław Borszewicz, Domowe Melodii, Janusz Korczak, Maciej Musiałowski, Violetta Villas and others.

About the theater

The “Sokół” Theater has been operating at the Wadowice Cultural Center since 1999. Currently, it brings together primary and secondary school students who, during the meetings, not only improve their theater skills, but also have the opportunity to create their own joint performance from scratch. In recent years, the group has experienced several theatrical adventures and won awards at the National Theater Festivals.

About the show

Na Laszki, dir. K. Czubak is a performance that completes the attempt to answer the question (…) whether we are able – we women, to free ourselves, or rather to free ourselves from the cultural roles into which society dresses us and which we also enter by existing in the given time and space. I also mean very private roles, conditioned by our family origins and our private choices. This is not a play about good girls or a romantic dream on a midsummer night. There are also no fighting feminists in this performance. There are no stereotypes that the global economy is trying to instill in us or even implant. (…) This performance is inconvenient. In order to try their hand at a slightly different form of expression, the oldest pupils of the Teatr Satyry Zielona Mrówa, operating in the Dormitory of Art Schools in Lublin, founded the Persyflaż Theater in March 2018. However, this does not change the fact that they are still active creators of the Green Ant.

Description of the performance:

“Behind the Scenes” is the first performance ever produced by the theater. The short stories by Antoni Chekhov were the inspiration for its creation. It tells about the fate of three provincial actors of the then Russia, friends? Who create a traveling theater, a traveling troupe. This grotesque image, seen through the eyes of the creators of the Persyflaż theater, presents the heroes in their everyday life, beyond the stage. The background of their emotions, weaknesses, intrigues and desires is nothing less than a wardrobe in which they reveal to us their very interesting characters by taking off their costumes and washing off stage masks. The whole performance is completed by music and songs, for which fragments of Alexander Pushkin’s poem “Eugene Onegin” were used.

What impresses me the most in the PYTHI ORATORY is the emotional conviction with which “Gardzienice” actors bring back to life the ancient speech of wisdom – not only in audial, clear-sounding voices of the actors, but also in the moving registers of their solo and ensemble dance movements. The performance is like a ritual when the audience and the performers together engage in a ritual of communion with their cultural ancestors who themselves tried – through divination and philosophy – to discover the secrets of human existence and the universe.
