The most spectacular Expedition in
“Gardzienice” theatre’ history;
to the lands of Abraham & Jesus:
Judea, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, Hebron, Birzeit, Jenin, Jericho, Kafr Ni’ma…
“The Wedding” ( “Wesele” ) by Stanisław Wyspiański – according to W. Staniewski’s program’ announcement during the premiere – becomes a Performance on the Road.
During the 3 weeks of expedition, the “Gardzienice” artists work with actors and musicians from territories of whole Palestine.
Local rituals and customs related to wedding, are interwoven into tissue of the Polish performance.
Texts are spoken in Arabic, English and Polish language.
Music – Polish original compositions of Zygmunta Koniecznego, the ancient music from Mediterranean region and authentic Arabic motifs (traditional and composed by regional musicians).
The final 4 open presentations take place in: Birzeit, Nablus, Jenin and Ramallah.
“Gardzienice” Theatre came to Palestine invited by the NGO “Sharek Youth Forum”, with financial support of the European Union.
Project leaders: Joanna Holcgreber, Mariusz Gołaj, Marcin Mrowca, Anna Dąbrowska, Paweł Kieszko, Tetiana Oreshko, Magdalena Pamuła, Dorota Kołodziej. Director’s supervision: Włodzimierz Staniewski. Coordinator from Palestinian side: Aleksandra Szypowska (graduate from the “Gardzienice” Academy for Theatre Practices).
