Paris – the city of mirrors
The photography exhibition “Paris – the City of Mirrors”, currently on display at the “Gardzienice” Gallery, opens the exhibition season after the summer break. At once at its threshold it takes us into the space of phenomenal Paris, which was captured in the artist’s photographs. “Paris – the City of Mirrors” is an invitation to downer what has not been discovered. It is a foretaste of those moments that are yet to come and whose delicate and unforced announcement are the photographs – snapshots of everyday life. Enchanted in stillness, the photographs encapsulate the most salient features of the Seine reality. What may be all the more attractive is the fact that in all its beauty of the City of Lights, much of it is a reflection of itself, using as a medium the small details of the moment we find and the ordinariness that we would probably not have paid attention to if not for the artist’s snapshots. Spheres that become a pretext for the correspondence of images, tiny blips dotting storefronts, signs, records, fragments of passing buildings and facades. “Paris – the City of Mirrors” is also a perfect arena for expressing our ideas about the heart of France, in which, like in the pages of ancient guidebooks, we can mark our associations and references. Thus, we can attempt to confront the artist’s vision with our attempt to situate places and events. So: where are we now? On which street and which photograph? Will it be possible to hear the rain breaking along the sidewalk? Or depict our own reflection in the mirror of a randomly passed by café?
