Generator of Hope

THE “GENERATOR OF HOPE” PROGRAMME

The “Generator of Hope” is a programme dedicated to emerging theatre artists. It was initiated by Włodzimierz Staniewski in 2015 and has been annually implemented ever since. Within its framework, young theatre directors and their collaborators develop their projects within the spaces of the „Gardzienice” Theatre under the artistic guidance of Staniewski.

The following artists who took part in the „Generator of Hope” in years 2015-2019:

– Maciej Gorczyński – theatre director graduated from the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow, philosophy at the University of Gdańskie and APT “Gardzienice” (“Hymns to the Night” based on the poetry of Novalis et al. – 2015, Benedykt Joachim Chmielowski’s “New Athens” – 2016, Franz Kafka’s “Letters to Milena” – 2017, James Joyce’s “Finnegan’s Wake”- 2018).

– Radosław Stępień – theatre director graduated from the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow (“Heart of the Glass” based on the screenplay by Werner Hercog – 2016, “Mating according to the Karamazov brothers” based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky – 2017).

– Michał Zdunik – theatre director graduated from the Theatre Academy in Warsaw (Tadeusz Różewicz’s “Mother leaves” – 2015 and “Witnesses or our little stabilization” – 2016).

– Jan Lech – composer, musicologist and former student of Włodzimierz Staniewski at the Artes Liberales Faculty of the University of Warsaw (two versions of Bruno Schulz’s “Wedding Night” – 2017 and 2018, cantata-ballet “Panienka based on the “White Nights” by Dostoyevsky).

– Katarzyna Wesołowska – pianist (“Polifonie / Poliwizje” with music by Johann Sebastian Bach – 2018).

– “Świty” – music project created by students of the 14th Academy of Theatre Practices: Dobromiła Życzyńska, Maria Matosek and Patryk Zabielskiegi (debut concert – 2020).

– AA&MM Collective – created by students of the 14th Academy of Theatre Practices: Anna Maria Słowikowska, Marta Łaska, Anna Bielecka, Marta Zamora and Patryk Zabielski (“From our daily news” based on newspaper excerpts from 1918-1939 and songs of the period – 2020).
