The Minister’s visit to Gardzienice

The Minister’s visit to Gardzienice

On Thursday 22.082024 in the afternoon our Centre for Theatre Practices ‘Gardzienice’ was visited by Mrs Hanna Wróblewska – Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

She was accompanied by Mr Bruno Odolczyk, advisor and head of the political cabinet.

It was an unexpected visit paid by the Minister after the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the liquidation of the concentration camp at Majdanek in Lublin.

It lasted approx. 1.5 hours.

The Minister made – one could say – a detailed site inspection of all the buildings on our grounds – from the outside and inside – including: The Palace, the Large and Small Outbuildings, the Granary, the Shed and the Japanese and Magic Gardens and Park.

She viewed the permanent and temporary exhibitions. And she did not fail to show her interest in the Groundhog House.

She gave her impressions of the charm and beautiful, careful maintenance of the buildings, rebuilt and built from complete ruins and decay.

She watched extracts from a film on the restoration.

She also expressed her opinion on the potential our theatre has because of the wise and effective management and equipping of the respective venues and the entire site.

We were pleased to receive the working visit from the Minister, who co-runs our Centre.

We donated a Polish and English language album of Krzysztof Bielinski’s photographs published by ‘Czarne’, entitled ‘Staniewski – Gardzienice – Antiquity’.

An invitation was extended to the upcoming performances and the October Generator of Hope’.

Guiding and narrating was Anna Maria Słowikowska with the help of Tetiana Oreszko, Pavel Kieszko – actors and Marzena Zuń – theatre archivist.
