Alison Hodge

ALISON HODGE

Wczoraj, 19 listopada 2019 roku zmarła Alison Hodge, w swoim domu, w Sandford, Devon w Anglii.

Była reżyserką, wykładowcą akademickim, autorką książek o teatrze i współzałożycielką Teatru Alibi.

Przez kilka lat współpracowała z nami w Gardzienicach.

Razem z mężem Chrisem, wychowali dwie piękne córki: Hannah i Sophie.

Długo i dzielnie walczyła z chorobą.

Yesterday, November 19, 2019, Alison Hodge died at her home in Sandford, Devon, England.

She was a director, academic lecturer, author of theater books, and co-founder of the Alibi theater.

For several years she worked with us in Gardzienice.

Together with her husband Chris, they raised two beautiful daughters: Hannah and Sophie.

She fought her illness for a long time and with great courage.

Yesterday, at 11.43 Chris, her husband called and said that she had passed away calmly, without pain, with luminosity on her face.

I had a long conversation with her on November 9th. We agreed to meet before Christmas. Ali spoke vividly, firmly and clearly. She was reconciled and prepared.

Ali gave Gardzienice a lot. I think it was one of the most beautiful exchanges of friendship, thought, respect and mutual care that we have ever experienced.

Ali strengthened our presence in the international theater environment. In her immortal book, Twentieth Century Actor Training, where there is a chapter about Gardzienice.

She was also co-author of the book, Hidden Territories.

She was interested in Polish theater and supported other Polish artists abroad.

In 2017, she was awarded the Medal of Merit for Polish Culture by the Polish Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

It is impossible to say how much we can not accept her passing away.

She will definitely be present in Gardzienice as long as we are here. Włodzimierz Staniewski, Mariusz Gołaj, Sabina Sidor, Joanna Holcgreber, Anna Dąbrowska, Marcin Mrowca and other colleagues from our Theater team”

There is limited parking outside the pub, and on-street parking around the village.

Accommodation is available at the Oxenham Arms and other inns around the area.

We will be near Dartmoor and it will be December, so the weather may be bracing! There are lovely walks very close by at Belstone and elsewhere.

Donations – Ali’s final months were profoundly enhanced by the care she received from the nurses of Hospiscare. Please make any donations to Hospiscare either online or via a collection box on the day.

As we will be arranging food, an RSVP would be helpful, as would requests for vegetarian and vegan food.

Thank you.
