Katarzyna Porczak – Painter, born in 1981 in Jarosław. She completed her MA studies at the Faculty of Art at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. She obtained her diploma with Dean’s Distinction in 2007 in Professor Adam Myjak’s Sculpture Studio. In 2002-2010, she actively participated in the artistic life of Lublin. She was associated, among others, with the Gallery of the Centre for Theatre Practices Gardzienice, where she was the curator of the gallery, with the Centre for Culture in Lublin and with Radio Lublin (appearing as an expert in Józef Szopinski’s regular programme “academic studio”). In 2017, she defended her postgraduate studies in entrepreneurship under Prof. Małgorzata Bombol at the Warsaw School of Economics. In the same year she also completed her doctoral studies in the studio of Artistic Tapestry of Professor Dorota Grynczel at the Faculty of Painting of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. After her death, Professor Stanislaw Baj became her supervisor, bringing her doctoral dissertation to a close in 2019. As an art teacher, Katarzyna Porczak educates children and teenagers as well as adults. She has been practicing yoga for several years, enjoys horse riding and paragliding.
Here is how Katarzyna Porczak talks about her painting: “In my painting I focus on colour and form, I set them free and let them speak with their intimate language. I reveal a hidden symbol which has appeared and has been recognised by me in the material world. My inspiration comes from nature, which I explore. In my paintings I strive for perfection, rendering what I feel, not what I feel I see. I focus on harmonious composition and simple design, the combination of which is a sophisticated blend”.
