“Władysław Hasior – A thoroughly metaphorical artist. He is referred to as a fulfilled and appreciated artist all over the world, as evidenced by numerous individual exhibitions in the most prestigious galleries and foreign museums.

In 2011, thanks to the courtesy of the Center of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, we had the great honor of hosting a unique work by Władysław Hasior “The Sorcerer” from 1957 in our gallery doors.

Huge, majestic, it looked from the wall at the small and almost filigree sculpture of Katarzyna Kobro, the subtle Nude of which, with the considerable size of the Sorcerer, seemed to be smaller than in reality.

It was then that the sculptures of outstanding classics were created by Hasior, framed in a frame of extraordinary beauty, to proudly present the Orońsko collection together with the Sorcerer. This exhibition was expanded by many artists, but Hasior was only one of them. Gently separated by the blackness of the walls from the rest of the objects, it seemed to tower above them, like a bird with a huge wingspan, dominating the higher parts of the mountains and crossing the vastness of the sky.

And this is how the Sorcerer in my soul played for us that the thought of Władysław Hasior’s individual exhibition in our spaces already stayed with us and waited for its realization until now.

The last time has been disturbing, but thanks to the fruitful cooperation with the Municipal Art Center in Gorzów Wielkopolski and the Jacek Malczewski Museum in Radom, we managed to organize an exhibition of the artist’s works in Lublin. The exhibition includes, among others, works selected by Mr. Gustaw Nawrocki, co-curator of the exhibition and curator of the MOSART collection in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The whole was completed with works obtained thanks to

courtesy of the Museum Jacek Malczewski in Radom and the Mazovian Center for Contemporary Art “Elektrownia”.

It is impossible to categorize the artist’s works, as he defies any classifications, especially when looking at his sculptural achievements, which escape the classical perception of sculpture. It is said about the uniqueness of Władysław Hasior, about the multi-layered nature of his art, which made him an excellent Artist, covering many areas and issues in his work. He inscribed space in art and allowed this space to be turned into a fragment of a work. He is recognized as a precursor of pop-art not so much Polish as the world one. Strongly integrated with the culture of Podhale, given its roots and traditions, he found a path of dialogue between native folklore and happenings. “
