“Sunday with …”  Włodzimierz Staniewski and “Gardzienice” Theatre on TVP Kultura
11 December 2011

Within the program, among others: emission of the film “Iphigenia in A.” based on Euripides and conversations with: Włodzimierz Staniewski – creator of the Centre for Theatre Practices “Gardzienice”, Prof. Edith Hall, Prof. Leszek Kolankiewicz, Krzysztof Bobiński and actors of the Theatre “Gardzienice”

“Gardzienice” – the hero of Sunday in TVP Kultura – is today a theatre institution enjoying international renown. Its name comes from a small village near Lublin, where the group has its seat. For centuries, Polish, Belarusian, Ukrainian and Jewish cultures have intermingled in this area. The choice of this place, far away from cultural centres, was connected to the idea of theatre involving the search for new, natural areas for artistic activities. Staniewski wanted to find a new audience who would be able to participate in the performance and co-create it with the actors.
