ECOLOGY OF THEATRE
RESEARCH STUDIO (2015-2020)

It was founded in cooperation between the Faculty “Artes Liberales” of the University of Warsaw and the Centre for Theatre Practices “Gardzienice”. The opening of the Research Studio with the signing of the partnership agreement took place on 25 March 2015.
 
The Studio was led by Włodzimierz Staniewski; it had an artistic-scientific character.
 

Realised projects:

  • Symposium ‘Sentio: Novalis’, 19-20 September 2015.
  • Collaboration on the publication of the book ‘Mantic Perspectives. Oracles, prophecies, performatics’ in 2015.
  • Collaboration in the preparation of the International Academic and Artistic Conference ‘Euripides-Innovator’, 13-15 May 2016.
  • Workshop session for students of the Ecology of Theatre course at Gardzienice, 9-14 July 2016.
  • Workshop session for students of the Ecology of Theatre course; work on the stage essay ‘Golden Ass’, 21-25 September and 6-8 October 2016.
  • Organisation of a guest lecture entitled “Props, Aeschylus and the Invention of Theatre” by Professor Oliver Taplin from the University of Oxford at the headquarters of the College “Artes Liberales” in Warsaw, 4 October 2016.
  • Cooperation in the organisation of the Second International Academic and Artistic Conference “Euripides-Innovator”, 11-15 May 2017. The Conference included a lecture by Prof. Armand D’Angour “Reviving Orestes: the sounds of the Chorus “at the headquarters of the College “Artes Liberales” in Warsaw, 15 May 2017.
  • Co-organisation of the inauguration of the 2015/16, 2017/18 and 2018/19 academic year for students of the Faculty of Artes Liberales.

 

Presentations and showings:

  • Stage essay presentation (on the occasion of the inauguration of the 2016/2017 academic year and at the 6th International Festival of Wandering Theatres) on 8 and 30 October 2016.
  • Presentation of the stage essay ‘On the Golden Ass, Women and Desire’ in Warsaw: rehearsals took place between 15 January and 20 June 2017; the show took place on 27 June 2017.
  • Presentation of the stage essay “About the Golden Ass, Women and Desire” in Zakopane at the national scientific conference “VII Anthropological Meetings” at the Tatra Museum Zakopane, branch in the Hasior Gallery, 7 December 2017.
